Christians mourne death of preacher Myles Munroe in Bahamas plane crash

The Christian world is grieving at the sudden death of internationally renowned preacher and leader, Myles Munroe who has died in a plane crash along with his wife and daughter.

Munroe, his wife Ruth Ann, and daughter, Charisa died in after the aircraft crashed in poor weather in the Bahamas on Sunday.

The private Lear jet struck a crane at the Grand Bahama Ship Yard, exploding on impact and crashing into the ground near a junkyard area, The Associated Press reported.

Richard H. Pinder, a senior vice president and pastor of Bahamas Faith Ministries Fellowship Church, also died in the crash, Bahamas Faith Ministries told ABC News.

Munroe once preached that "the value of life is not in its duration, but in its donation," ABC reported.

"The Department of Civil Aviation has been advised unofficially that the aircraft was destroyed and that there were no survivors," the island's Ministry of Transport and Aviation said in a statement.

Munroe and his family were travelling to Grand Bahama for the 2014 Global Leadership Forum, a meeting of political, religious and business leaders which was to start November 10.

Former mayor of Atlanta and former U.S Ambassador to the United Nations, Andrew Young was scheduled to speak at the forum. He expressed his condolences to the Munroe family and the families of the other victims, Forbes reported.

A posting on Munroe's Facebook page said the event would go on for two and a half days. "This is what Dr. Munroe would have wanted. Please keep his family and the ministry in prayers," the post said.

Munroe was the president and founder of the Bahamas Faith Ministries International (BFMI) and Myles Munroe International (MMI).

He was chief executive officer and chairman of the board of the International Third World Leaders Association and president of the International Leadership Training Institute. He was the author of 69 books.
