London underground ads to carry slogan, 'Christians make better lovers'

Christian Connection dating agency to launch an advertising campaign on the London Underground transport system.

A UK Christian dating agency is launching an advertising campaign in London's underground transport system with the slogan "Christians make better lovers."

The taglines will appear in London Tube carriages from January 13 for Christian Connections which boasts of being a dating site owned and run by Christians since it began in London in September 2000.

The site says thousands of couples have started relationships and many more Christians have found friendship and community through its events, meetings and message boards.

It says it offers the best opportunities for believers to meet and date other single Christians in the UK and Ireland.

The Telegraph newspaper said that the advertisements for the dating agency are set to raise more than eyebrows with its claim that "Christians believers make better lovers."

The newspaper said that using the word "lover" has connotations of illicit relationships, while its notes the Bible's prohibition on adultery.

"But the adverts explain that the pun is reference to the command in the Gospel of John for Christians to 'love one another'," reports The Telegraph.

Christian Today online newspaper reported Thursday that about 1.4 million single Christians between the ages of 25 and 60 attend church monthly in Britain, and many of them are based in the London area.

Along with the slogan "Christians make better lovers" the advertising poster has the message, "Christians believe in love. 'Love one another' is written into their code. So if you are a single Christian, why not give our award winning dating site a try?"

Christian Connections website says, "Being single in Church can be tough. When you think about it, there are very few opportunities to meet single Christians outside of Sunday services.

"This could be limiting your chance of meeting new faces to just a handful of people. Maybe you have tried online dating before, but have found that most 'Christian' sites are not really run by Christians and are full of fake profiles or worse."

The website says it is connected to similar websites in Australia, the United States, Singapore and Hong Kong.
