The 2016 Honda Pilot was only released earlier this year but the midsize SUV is already raking up numerous awards for its performance. For 2016, the SUV was given a new design and was equipped with "Honda Sensing," a comprehensive set of advanced safety and driver-aid technology. As a result, the 2016 Honda Pilot is one of the best family SUVs in the market.

"The 2016 Pilot is not only the most technologically advanced Honda vehicle in the road today but the top choice for family SUV buyers interested in safety performance," said Jeff Conrad, Honda Senior Vice President and General Manager.

The third-generation SUV earned a Top Safety Pick  from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) last August. Then in October, the 2016 Honda Pilot also received a five-star safety rating after it was crash tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The 2016 Honda Pilot is a modern and sleek SUV with a muscular form. It has been designed to be family friendly with a spacious three-row eight-seat setup.

It is powered by a 3.5-liter i-VTEC V-6 engine that produces 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The SUV is fuel-efficient with 19 mpg city driving, 27 mpg highway driving and 22 mpg combined driving for the base model.

The new Honda Pilot is offered in five trim levels - LX, EX, EX-L, Touring and Elite.

The LX, EX and EX-L comes with a six-speed automatic transmission and 18-inch alloy wheels. The SUV also comes as a front-wheel drive.

The Touring and Elite trims are equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and shift-by-wire. The two top trims have been given 20-inch alloy wheels. The Touring comes as a FWD while the Elite is available as an all-wheel drive.

The Pilot SUV comes standard with a comprehensive airbag system, vehicle stability assist, anti-lock braking system, electronic brakes, hill start assist and a multi-angle rearview camera.

Higher trims come standard with collision mitigation braking system, road departure mitigation system, forward collision warning and lane departure warning. These safety features come optional for lower trims.

The 2016 Honda Pilot is now available to purchase at dealers. Prices start at $29,995 for the standard LX trim.
