"Avatar" created a whole new revolution to filmmaking and visual effects, making it an undisputed legend in the movie world. It is then without surprise that even the smallest news about the development of the sequel is something worth the time of the avid fans.

In an interview with Variety, Sigourney Weaver was invited to talk about some of her upcoming roles. It is hard not to ask about the upcoming "Avatar 2," and she has nice things to say about the sequel.

"In my opinion, the three scripts I've read so far are many times more amazing than the first one in terms of their scope," she says during the interview. She also adds, "He [James Cameron] did a lot of the heavy lifting in the first movie, establishing the family and the relationships and the world, and now he really gets to play."

This is exciting and mind-boggling news to true-blue fans of the sci-fi film. It can be recalled that during a body exchange Na'vi ritual, her human body was already too weak due to her wounds, thus the process failed altogether. What was noteworthy were the last words she mentioned, saying Eywa was real, and that she is with her.

Since she died in the first movie, it will be interesting to see how she returns to the sequel. Will she be revived by Eywa? Or more interestingly, will she become the personification of the Pandoran deity? A lot of speculations can be said, but it obviously teases the minds of every fan.

According to reports, it looks like Stephen Lang, known as the big bad guy in the first film, will also be returning. How he also makes a comeback is something up for speculation, making the plot for "Avatar 2" even deeper and more exciting.

The anticipation is agonizing, but then it appears that the avid followers of the movie franchise now have a specific date to mark on their calendars. Reports reveal that "Avatar 2" may be released by Dec. 21, 2018. The assumption came about after Fox made a few switcheroos with the launch date of some of its movies, stating that an untitled Fox/ Lightstorm film is slated on the aforementioned date. Lightstorm is James Cameron's production company, making it a viable hunch.

Nonetheless, fans are sure to keep their eyes peeled for more news around the release date of the epic film.
