'Avengers: Infinity War' cast news, updates: Peter Dinklage in talks to join ensemble film; Tom Holland's Spider-Man confirmed?

(Facebook/avengers)"Avengers: Infinity War" will premiere on May 4, 2018.

With the hotly anticipated Marvel ensemble film "Avengers: Infinity War" poised to commence shooting in February in Scotland, fans are wondering which superheroes will end up being featured. With a cast list yet to be released, which faces — both old and new — will be joining the "Avengers" train?

The whole hype about the upcoming "Avengers" sequel mostly draws from the idea that Marvel will finally assemble all of its superheroes in the MCU for an action-packed fight against Thanos (Josh Brolin). But that hasn't steered attention away from those potentially joining the film, especially when they come from a certain popular HBO fantasy series.

Variety reports that Peter Dinklage, who is known for playing Tyrion Lannister on "Game of Thrones," is in early negotiations to play an important role in "Avengers: Infinity War." Details about his character are unknown at this point, and Marvel made no comment on the matter. However, it is expected that Dinklage will be in both "Infinity War" and its untitled sequel.

It is widely expected that Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans will be at the forefront of the upcoming film, reprising their roles as Tony Stark/Iron Man and Steve Rogers/Captain America. Joining them are Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, and the heroes from "Guardians of the Galaxy," including Chris Pratt as Star-Lord.

Zoe Saldana, who plays Gamora in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies, is also set to reprise her role in "Avengers: Infinity War." The actress confirmed as much while speaking to MTV News on the Golden Globes red carpet.

As for one friendly neighborhood hero, Tom Holland's Spider-Man made his cinematic debut in "Captain America: Civil War" and is set to headline his own film, "Spider-Man: Homecoming." However, rumors ran amock that Holland was not going to appear in the upcoming "Avengers" sequel. But if new reports are to be believed, then Spider-Man may just find himself swinging into "Infinity War" as Holland himself seems to confirm.

"Avengers: Infinity War" is slated to premiere on May 4, 2018.
