"Destiny 2" promises expansion this 2016.

Fans cannot wait for the sequel of "Destiny," the video game developed by Bungie and published by Activision. New updates reveal that the second installment has been delayed until 2017 and a "large new expansion" is underway this year.

According to Forbes, one of the adjustments that "Destiny 2" must consider is including a split-screen to embrace what "cooperative gameplay" is about. After all, the game revolves around first-person shooters. Split-screens will reportedly allow the players to compete with each other and make the experience more exciting. The website thinks that it will be a great game to play with friends. Allowing the players to create teams will potentially increase its followers, which according to Activision, has reached 30 million registered players as of November 2015.

Publishing executive Eric Hirshberg previously shared, as per GameSpot, that players were encouraged to return to the "Destiny" bandwagon because of the new added contents and game improvements. He said that they made sure to consider what the fans are rooting for in a game before creating anything. Hirshberg also thanked the game's fan base, promising that Activision and Bungie would work well together to deliver only the best.

"It's clear fans are hungry for more content than we have been able to create. That passion and loyalty from our fans is something that we don't take for granted, which is why we're working side by side with Bungie to make sure that in the future, we're able to deliver a more consistent stream of great content and drive even more engagement," he said.

Bungie first introduced "Destiny" to gamers on September 2014 as the first new console franchise since the Halo series. It is also the first game from the Bungie-Activision collaboration. Upon its release, the game drew mixed reviewers in which most negative comments criticized its storyline. In "Destiny," players take the role of guardians tasked to protect the Earth's last safe city from alien races who want to conquer it.
