Failed Pope Assassin Wants Dan Brown to Write Book

The failed assassin of Pope John Paul II has invited Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown to write a story about him.

Mehmet Ali Agca, 52, was released from prison on Monday after serving 29 years behind bars.

Upon his release, Agca told reporters that he wants to do two things: visit John Paul II's tomb and write two books, including his autobiography.

Agca said he contacted Brown for help with the books, reporting that his price for the project is $5 million. Agca has also said he wants $2 million for a television interview.

Along with his current plans, Agca also released some bizarre statements through his lawyers including proclamations of the apocalypse.

"All the world will be destroyed in this century. Every human being will die in this century," he wrote.

"The Gospel is full of mistakes. I will write the perfect Gospel," he added, referring to himself as "The Christ eternal, Mehmet Ali Agca."

The statements were given after Agca received a checkup at a military hospital that showed he has a psychiatric disorder.

Agca was originally released from prison in 2000 at the request of Pope John Paul, but was later imprisoned in Turkey for other crimes including the murder of a newspaper editor.

The former Pope suffered four shots to the abdomen under Agca's attack in 1981 while riding in an open vehicle in St. Peter's Square.

After his recovery, John Paul said he forgave his assailant and also prayed for him during a visit to his jail cell.
