'Kingdom Hearts 3' release date: Details to be announced on E3

(Facebook / Kingdom Hearts)Square Enix is expected to go into detail about "Kingdom Hearts" series development in the upcoming Electronic Entertaiment Expo.

Fans have been waiting for an official announcement regarding "Kingdom Hearts 3." Its predecessor "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" has been announced to premiere this year. With this development, many gamers believe that "Kingdom Hearts 3" will follow soon after. In a recent interview, "Kingdom Hearts Unchained X" producer Hironori Okayama said details will be announced in the upcoming E3.

E3 stands for Electronic Entertainment Expo, an annual event featuring world premiere trade shows for computer, video and mobile games, and related products. This year's E3 will be held on June 14, 15, and 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The Koaltion's Jakejames Lugo was fortunate to interview Okayama in the last days of April where he shared details about "Kingdom Hearts" games. He said "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" will be available for PS4 modules this year, but when asked about "Kingdom Hearts 3," he said Square Enix will be the one to share details on E3 2016.

His answer caused excitement among players, although some are a little disappointed, saying announced games without a definite release date could premiere as late as two years after. Many more are hopeful that it it will be released by 2017, though, also because of the statement released by "Kingdom Hearts" series director Tetsuya Nomura.

The statement published by Nomura was a thank you statement directed to fans of the games in North America who are waiting for the North American version of "Kingdom Hearts Unchained X" to be released. He said that the game is one of the earliest in the series yet it aims to bridge players to the upcoming "Kingdom Hearts 3."

One particular sentence on the statement says, "And it goes without saying that it will link not only to 'Kingdom Hearts III,' but also to what lies beyond."
