After experiencing a lot of confusion between what is real and what is not, a new Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek) will be seen in the third season of "Mr. Robot."

After a difficult journey of realizing who Mr. Robot is and trying to figure out whether he can get rid of him or not, creator Sam Esmail told The Hollywood Reporter that a new Elliot will be seen in season 3.

He said, "It's the Elliot we've seen go through this horrific experience from the first and second seasons, and with that in mind, that's going to make this new Elliot come into fruition in the next season."

He likened the transformation to "Star Wars" saying the second season has a lot of similarities to "The Empire Strikes Back" in terms of Elliot isolating himself. In season 3, viewers will see his return, but he will no longer be the naïve person seen in the first two seasons.

It also looks like Tyrell (Martin Wallstrom) will play a big part in exploring the new Elliot as the creator revealed more of him will be seen in season 3. His real identity became one of the biggest mysteries in the second season. It kept viewers guessing up until the time he fired the gun. Esmail said, "That was the real key ingredient for why we kept him out of the season. We felt we needed to hunker down on the Elliot and Robot dynamic before we really re-engaged Tyrell in the plot."

During the recently held New York Comic-Con, it has also been confirmed that an intriguing character, Leon, will be introduced in season 3. Esmail said, "I generally knew this from the get-go, however, I know Leon is certainly one to pay special mind to in Season 3."

The question now is whether Leon is a friend or a foe. Will Elliot finally find a way to distinguish what's real and not?

"Mr. Robot" season 3 returns to USA Network in 2017.
