After 12 episodes, season 1 of "One Punch Man" ended with a bang that its massive fanbase have been eagerly waiting for a second season. Although no specific date has been confirmed yet, creator Murata Yusuke assured avid anime viewers and manga readers via Twitter that he will work hard to make the second season possible.

However, because of the heavy workload ahead for Yusuke to get done with the manga's second book, fans should not expect the anime release anytime soon. While rumors are surfacing that it could come in December, this is nearly impossible.

According to The Bitbag, it usually takes six to nine months or one to two years to create a whole new season, which includes working on the stories, edits, sketches, and storyboards. But that is just for the manga alone. The anime will require yet another timeframe to finish.

The most doable report yet is that the upcoming season will pick up where the first season left. The season finale "The Strongest Hero" dealt with the story where Lord Boros invaded the headquarters of the Hero Association in A City. While the rest of the S and A-class heroes fought Lord Boros' group, Saitama — the one-punch man — went straight to him and challenge him to a fight.

With an attack called "serious serious punch," Saitama defeated Lord Boros in the end. But what kept some fans wanting more is the arrival of Handsome Kamen Amai Mask, a Class A Rank 1 hero. This heightened the speculations of the possibility of a second season wherein the protagonist and the newcomer will cross path.

Meanwhile, reports are saying that the plot details for the second season will be heavily based on the "Hero Hunt" arc from the manga series. The story arc will reveal a new villain, Garou. This character has already been mentioned in the previous season as a former student of Silver Fang, a S-class hero.

Nothing has been officially announced yet, so fans are advised to take these rumors with doubt.
