There is a lot of excitement for the return of "Outlander" as the upcoming season is expected to bring new elements to the show.

After an intriguing season of "Outlander," many are curious to know what will happen when their favorite characters return to the small screens. One of the stars of the series, Sam Heughan, also expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming installment. On his official Twitter account, he voiced his excitement on being back on set with co-star Caitriona Balfe.

Because of this, many fans are wondering if there is anything happening between the two actors off-screen. Due to their character's chemistry on the show, there are speculations that Balfe and Heughan could actually be in a romantic relationship. However, the two have previously debunked rumors regarding their relationship.

Nevertheless, there is a lot of anticipation regarding their return to the TV screens. Heughan was able to share some insights about his character's relationship with Claire, the character played by Balfe. Though he too is excited to continue the story, he warned fans that things may change between the two of them.

According to Variety, Heughan said: "There's a period of time where Jamie and Claire are apart; he thinks that he's lost her, or at least that she's alive and well but in the future, so what is he living for? What sort of man is he now?"

It was teased that due to the tragic happenings in the previous season, Jamie will be changed for good. With that, when he is reunited with Claire after two decades, there is a chance that their relationship will not be like before.

However, the upcoming season will also bring an interesting twist to the story since it was revealed that Claire will now have to take on her role as a new mother. This is expected to bring an interesting dynamic to the series.

"Outlander" season 3 is expected to air in 2017 on Starz.
