(Reuters/Kim Hong-Ji)Samsung Gear S3 is said to be unveiled at the 2016 IFA in Germany.

Rumors about the next smart watch from Samsung are making the rounds. According to recent reports, Samsung will launch the Samsung Gear S3 at the 2016 Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA).

An exclusive report from SamMobile stated that the South Korean tech giant has confirmed their presence at the event in Germany, which will be held from Sept. 2 to 7, and will likely introduce a new wearable device. Samsung usually chooses this venue to unveil new models of the Galaxy Note series, but since the new Note is set to be unveiled this week, the Gear S3 is likely to steal the limelight next month.

As for what the smart watch will look like or offer, not much is known but the publication also mentioned that the Gear S3 will not have significant changes in its design and it will still look like the Gear S2. However, it is also likely that it will be much thinner to compete with the wearable devices from one of Samsung's rivals, Apple.

The upcoming Gear S3 will still have the rotary bezel found in its predecessor. With that said, it is also expected that the new device will have a round face.

Other details about the smart watch have also surfaced and they suggest that the Gear S3 will be an ideal smart watch for those who like to go on outdoor adventures. The device is said to have features suited for consumers who have an active lifestyle. These include an altimeter, which provides details of the current altitude; a manually-calibrated barometer sensor to warn users of an incoming bad weather; a built-in GPS connectivity and a speedometer on-board to track the user's distance and speed.

Fans are already excited about the upcoming reveal of the new Gear S3, but Samsung has not officially confirmed the release date or specs of this device. More updates should be dropped soon.
