Fans of the supernatural series "Sleepy Hollow" are still waiting in tenterhooks as to whether the show will get picked up for season four. So far, the only update that FOX has given was showrunner Clifton Campbell's statement that the network was still deliberating on the renewal.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Campbell said that although there was still no news, they were already thinking of exciting scenarios that fans would surely enjoy in the new episodes. Of course, the series would be different, with Nicole Beharie's exit as Abbie Mills. The female Witnessed sacrificed her soul to stop the The Hidden One's (Peter Mensah) dark plans. As punishment, Pandora (Shannyn Sossamon) took her soul and put it inside her box. At the end, though, it was revealed that the woman never had Abbie's soul because she was already dead.
"The [season] finale featuring the tragic death of Abbie Mills was a very dramatic ending and a bold move for the show, but Sleepy Hollow has always been known for its shocking finales. We feel we provided a wonderfully poignant conclusion for Abbie and showed some of the best moments between the Witnesses that we've seen onscreen," Campbell shared.
Without Abbie, the quest is on to find Ichabod's (Tom Mison) new partner. It was already revealed during the season 3 finale that the Witnesses must always be in pairs. Ezra (James McDaniel) told Ichabod in the cemetery that he must find the new Witness, but it would not be easy. According to Abbie's father, the destined one was someone from Abbie's bloodline and that this person already has a part of Abbie's soul.
Will it be Ezra's other daughter, Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood)? After all, as Abbie's sister, she knows full well the task of being a Witness. It will also be interesting to see Ezra in a mentor position to Ichabod. Abbie had been Ichabod's guide in the modern world. Ezra may take this role, as he already revealed he knew far too much about the supernatural world.
