'Star Wars: Episode 8' plot rumors, news: New theory suggests a betrayal by Supreme Leader Snoke; Kylo Ren dies?

(Facebook/StarWars)"Star Wars: Episode 8," the sequel to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," will premiere on Dec. 15.

Rumors and speculations usually surround popular film franchises, and "Star Wars" is no different. After the monumental success — both critically and commercially — of "Rogue One," fans are now talking about the next "Star Wars" film: Episode 8.

Much has been said about the potential lineage of Daisy Ridley's Rey. Some fans believe that she is a Skywalker, perhaps Luke's (Mark Hamill) daughter, while others think that she is a possible Kenobi. There has also been a great deal of rumors about Adam Driver's Kylo Ren, Han Solo (Harrison Ford), and General Leia Organa's son.

Now, a new theory, which involves both Rey and Kylo Ren, suggests that the former may ultimately kill the latter by the end of "Star Wars: Episode 8." According to YouTuber and avid "Star Wars" fan Mike Zeroh, there is reason to believe that Supreme Leader Snoke, portrayed by Andy Serkis, will betray Kylo Ren.

It can be recalled that Snoke was introduced as a member of the dark side and Kylo Ren's master. And even though Kylo Ren has been nothing but loyal to him — even committing patricide along the way — Zeroh thinks that Snoke will urge Rey to kill his apprentice. This was apparently foreshadowed in "The Force Awakens," when Rey heard a voice in her head, telling her to kill Kylo Ren.

However, since nothing can be known for sure at this point, it would be best for readers to take this news with a grain of salt for now.

In other news, the wound left behind by Carrie Fisher's death is still fresh. Fisher, known for her iconic role as Princess-turned-General Leia Organa, passed away on Dec. 27 at the age of 60. And while it will certainly be hard to go on without her, it has been revealed that she has finished all of her scenes for Episode 8.

The yet-untitled "Star Wars: Episode 8" will premiere in theaters on Dec. 15.
