After beginning the pre-order period for the game on its official website and on Steam, Deck13 Interactive revealed that the game will be finally available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on Tuesday, May 16.

Earlier reports claimed that "The Surge" will center on the events that will happen in a dystopian future where the world's natural resources had been exploited and overused by humanity. This caused a widespread chaos and proliferation of environmental diseases.

The game will feature the catastrophic events that will erupt in a large robotics facility owned and managed by the megacorporation known as Creo.

Based on the trailer for the upcoming game that is known to be powered by the FLEDGE engine and with the integration of NVIDIA GameWorks, players need to take on the role of a factory worker named Warren who has to use a modern exo-suit to be able to face the enemies that also don the same wardrobe.

"It features fresh fighting, looting and crafting mechanics, alongside a unique character progression system," the game developer states on the game's official website.

In a previous interview with IGN, game designer Adam Hetenyi to talk about how "The Surge" will be different compared to other RPGs.

"Our combat has hard and light attacks, horizontal and vertical attacks as well as the ability to target specific body parts," Hetenyi stated in the interview back in February. "That makes each fight more tactical and allows you to choose whether you want to fight in a more technical way that focuses on different body parts or a more straightforward way that simply targets an enemy's weak spot."

"The Surge" is currently available for pre-order on several major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, GameStop, and Steam for $59.99.
