'Wonder Woman' rumors: Amazonian warrior princess to battle god of war

After the trailers suggest that Diana/Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) will battle mortal forces only in the upcoming "Wonder Woman" movie, it is said that the highly anticipated DC and Warner Bros. movie is actually pitting the Amazonian warrior princess against the god of war, Ares.
Two trailers have already been released for "Wonder Woman," and both have not hinted on who the main villain in the movie will be. In fact, some have even dubbed it as sort of a war movie because of the scenes in the trailers showing World War 1.
While some thought that Diana will be dealing with powerful yet ordinary humans in "Wonder Woman," the latest reports claim that the movie's big bad is actually Ares, the god of war and one of the DC superhero's formidable opponents in the comic books and the same villain the animated "Wonder Woman" movie featured as its big bad in 2009.
Although there is nothing in the trailers that teases Ares to be the villain in "Wonder Woman," some suspect that Danny Huston's German military officer may be Ares in his human disguise after all. In fact, this is not the first time Huston's character to be suspected as Ares as, late last year, eagle-eyed fans were able to spot a scene in the trailer of "Wonder Woman" wherein the actor's character is under the bounds of Wonder Woman's magic lasso and is about to be slammed on a roof. Some fans opine that, if Huston's character is a mere mortal, why must Wonder Woman use great force to deal with an aging man?
The said theory is further bolstered when a French magazine, Studio Cine Live, recently published an article revealing that Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor's (Chris Pine) mission is, allegedly, to recover the notebook containing the formula for a deadly gas intended to wipe out humanity, and that it is Ares who is behind all the chaos.
However, as it remains unclear how Studio Cine Live learned of the information it published, fans are advised to take everything with a grain of salt for now, although there is a strong possibility that it will be the case.
Is Ares really the villain in "Wonder Woman?" Is Huston's character really the god of war in his human disguise?
Find out when "Wonder Woman" arrives on June 2.
