The Scirocco sports coupe is considered as one of the most popular and attractive models in Volkswagen's car lineup. For the 2016 model year, Volkswagen has released a special Black Edition trim for the third-generation Scirocco coupe.

The 2016 Volkswagen Scirocco still comes in a predominantly white exterior paint but the integration of black accents significantly elevate the visual appeal of the sporty coupe.

The Black Edition trim is available on two Scirocco models – the GT and the R-Line.

The Scirocco GT Black Edition comes with all the features of the GT trim level including a 6.5-inch infotainment system, USB connection, Bluetooth connectivity and DAB radio. The trim also comes with an auto-dimming rear view mirror, automatic lights, automatic wipers and air-conditioning.

The Black Edition adds black accents for the roof, side mirrors and the rear spoiler. Volkswagen has also included 90 percent tinted rear windows.

The 2016 Scirocco GT Black Edition is also equipped with 18-inch Black Lisbon alloy wheels.

The Scirocco R-Line Black Edition also comes with the standard R-Line trim features including the electronically adjustable sports seat with leather trimming. Like the GT, the R-Line Black Edition also comes with a contrasting black roof, door mirrors and rear spoiler. There are also 90 percent tinted rear windows. The R-Line Black Edition also comes with 19-inch Black Lugano alloy wheels.

The 2016 Volkswagen Scirocco Black Edition will have four powertrain options.

The two petrol engine options include a 1.4-liter TSI engine with 123 horsepower and a 2.0-liter TSI engine that produces 177 horsepower.The diesel engine options include a 2.0-liter TDI engine that produces 148 horsepower and a 2.0-liter TDI engine that comes with 177 horsepower.

The Scirocco coupe comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission. The engines, excluding the 1.4-liter TSI engine, can come optional with the six-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic gearbox.

The 2016 Scirocco coupe can go from 0 to 60 mph in 9.3 seconds when powered by the 1.4-liter engine. With the 2.0-liter engines, it can achieve the feat in 5.5 seconds.

The 2016 Volkswagen Scirocco Black Edition models are now available to order in the U.K. The models will begin shipping by Jan. 2016. Prices start at £23,135 which is about $35,000.
