2017 Infiniti Q30: compact luxury hatchback unveiled
Nissan's luxury division, Infiniti, unveiled their new hatchback, Q30, during the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show. The Infiniti Q30 marks the company's first foray into the compact luxury car market.
Compared to other hatchbacks in the market, the Q30 is taller, which makes it stand out from the crowd. Thanks to a partnership between Nissan and Mercedes-Benz, the Q30 has been outfitted with the same front-drive MFA platform used by the CLA and GLA models.
The Q30 has a bold and premium design. It has a fluid and dynamic build with a curved crease that goes across the door handles. The hatchback also features Infiniti's signature front grille. The Base and Premium models ships with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED front fog lights and chrome exhaust finishers. The Sport version comes with 19-inch wheels, a gloss black front grille, dark chrome exhaust finishers and a sportier bumper design. It is also half an inch lower.
The Infiniti Q30 comes with five engine choices, however, only one engine will be available for the U.S. market. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine gives up to 208 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The hatchback comes with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive.
The Base and Premium trim models have a suspension best suited for city driving, which can absorb uneven or broken roads. The Sport version has a unique suspension that gives a firm driving experience and the low ride height improves body control.
The five-door Q30 features modern and premium interiors similar to its exteriors. It is quiet inside due to an active noise cancellation feature that is 10 percent better than other competitors. The seats are soft, wide and confortable. The hatchback also has Infiniti's InTouch multimedia system with a tablet-like user interface.
The hot hatch's safety features include automatic park assist, blind spot warning, forward collision warning with emergency braking, automatic high beam assist and adaptive cruise control.
The Infiniti Q30 hatchback will also get a crossover SUV variant, the QX30, set to debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show this November.
The Infiniti Q30 hatchback is expected to hit dealerships by spring 2016 and will arrive as 2017 models.
