2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport upgraded with new design and advanced tracking system
The Land Rover Discovery Sport has been upgraded for the 2017 model year. Apart from enhanced design cues and upgraded safety features, the premium compact SUV is also the first vehicle in the world to have integrated Tile's advanced tracking technology that will prevent losing and forgetting important items.
"Losing your wallet or leaving your child's sports kit behind isn't just an inconvenience. The realization you're mislaid something important can be a cause of distraction. Our unique partnership with Tile means customers can check the status of tagged items using Discovery Sport's touchscreen, so forgotten items will be a thing of the past," said Peter Virk, Director of Connected Technologies and Apps for Jaguar Land Rover.
The Tile tracking system involves attaching Bluetooth tags on valuable items that can then be monitored via the dedicated smartphone app. Drivers and passengers will then be alerted if certain items are not on board the vehicle before leaving a location. Misplaced items can also be tracked by activating a 90-decible alarm. The Tile advanced tracking app is compatible with both Apple and Android devices.
The tracking system is integrated into the Land Rover's InControl Touch Pro infotainment system. It comes standard with an 8-inch display but can be upgraded to a larger 10.2-inch display. The infotainment system comes with a smartphone-like interface and a high-resolution screen. It is also powered by a quad-core CPU and GPU with 60 GB of SSD storage.
For the new model year, Land Rover has also made a wide range of personalization options available to customers. These options will help give the Discovery Sport a more premium and distinct look.
The 2017 Discovery Sport Black Limited Edition comes with the Black Design Pack, a unique Dynamic grille, black "SPORT" badging, and privacy glass. Meanwhile, 2017 models can also be ordered with the Graphite Pack that introduces a Dark Atlas finish to the grille, bonnet badging, side vents, a Corris Grey contrast roof, Narvik Black mirror caps, and new color finishes for the 18- or 20-inch wheels.
Finally, the 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport also comes with the latest safety features. The Driver Condition Monitor sends alerts when detecting signs of drowsiness or fatigue. The Intelligent Speed Limiter uses Traffic Sign Recognition technology to keep the speed limit and the Lane Keep Assist feature uses the forward-facing camera to detect lane markings and will issue alerts when the vehicle veers off the lane.
The 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport will be available to purchase starting August with a starting price of $37,695.
