Android L update for HTC One M8 and M7 to depend on Google's final codes
The dawn of Android L during the recent Google I/O has shoved the excitement up, especially for HTC One M8 and M7 users.
As the excitement builds up, fans are expecting a speedy update since Google has already launched a developer preview, which they have usually not done in the past.
Developers will have the entire summer to test apps and get them running on smartphones and tablet in time for the full consumer release of Android L this fall.
HTC was fast to address this issue and put this note as a pop-up message on the welcome page for their "Customers and Enthusiasts."
The note reads: "HTC is excited about the new features in the Android L release and we can't wait to share them with you. We are committed to updating our flagship HTC One family as fast as possible as part of our HTC Advantage program."
It continues, "We will begin rolling out updates to the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) worldwide within 90 days of receiving final software from Google, followed shortly thereafter by other One family members and select devices.
The message ended by saying, "HTC Advantage protects your smartphone investment, ensuring you have the best smartphone experience long after purchase."
HTC is known to be ultra transparent when it comes to updates with operating system and other issues, making sure that they build a lasting relationship with customers.
"When we looked into why we weren't selling more phones, given that fact and the fact that we won practically every award as the best smartphone, we discovered that we weren't communicating as well as we should have been," said HTC Chairwoman Cher Wang in an interview prior to the launch of the HTC One M8 earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Android Central reported that while Android L's release is still uncertain, leaked documents suggested that Android 4.4.4 will begin rolling out update to HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 between July and August.
Other HTC handsets such as One Mini 2, the dual sim variant of One M8 and One E8 will likely to receive updates from August until September.
Android L could follow anytime between October and December, according to the same report.
