Asus Zenfone 2 release dates, price: coming to home market March 23 as device gets global rollout
Taiwanese technology giant, Asus, has confirmed that the top-end 64GB variant of its latest high-end device, ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML) will hit stores in its home market on March 23.
Earlier in March, the company had announced the prices of the four variants of the Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) for Taiwan, with the 4GB RAM/32GB model costing TWD 8,990 and the 2GB RAM model to sell for TWD 6,990, while the ZE550ML and ZE500CL variants are priced at TWD 5,990 and TWD 4,990, respectively. Asus has now announced that the Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) with 4GB RAM/64GB memory would sell for TWD 9990 upon its release this month.
The top-end Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) model features a 5.5-inch full HD display and runs on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. The phone is powered by 64-bit class based 2.3GHz Intel Atom processor Z3580 with PowerVR G6430 graphics engine, 4GB RAM and 16GB/32GB/64GB inbuilt memory and a 3,000mAh battery. The Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) also has a 2GB RAM variant with almost similar specifications, except that it is powered by a 1.8GHz Quad Core Intel Atom Z3560 with PowerVR G6430 GPU.
The Zenfone 2 (ZE550ML) model has a 5.5-inch HD screen and is powered by 1.8GHz Intel Atom Quad Core Z3560 (1.8GHz) with PowerVR G6430 GPU, 2GB RAM, 16GB memory and a 3,000mAh battery. At the lowest end of the series is the Zenfone 2 (ZE500CL), with a smaller 5.0-inch HD display and powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2560 processor with 2GB RAM and a 2,500mAh battery.
Asus will release the new ZenFone 2 in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and France this month, followed by India, Italy and other Southeast Asia markets in April, while Brazil will see the device in June. Asus has also announced plans to bring the ZenFone 2 to Canada in April, where it will sell the device through its retail partners, like Staples, Amazon or online, as part of its efforts to make inroads into the North American handset market.
