Asus Zenfone 3 release date news: CEO confirms August release of midrange Zenfone 3 series

(Asus)Asus Zenfone 3 series will be launched sometime in June. It will then become available to six countries in August.

The Asus Zenfone has always been an impressive model of smartphones since it carries decent specs but is affordable at the same time. Fans are excited about the arrival of the new lineup, which should happen in a few months.

The new Asus Zenfone 3 series will be unveiled next month, as confirmed by the company's CEO, Jerry Shen. In June, people will be introduced to three new devices from the lineup: Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Max and Zenfone 3 Deluxe. This new series will be available in August in six countries, although it wasn't mentioned in the report which ones.

According to earlier reports, the Zenfone 3 will be available in two variants, the Asus Z012D and Z010D. The former is said to sport a 5.5-inch screen while the latter has a bigger screen display at 5.9 inches. However, more recent reports suggest that the smaller version is the Zenfone 3 and the bigger one is actually Zenfone 3 Deluxe.

DigiTimes reported that more than 90 percent of the phone series will run on Qualcomm processors while the rest of them will have MediaTek processors. Two-thirds of the entire shipment will comprise of the Zenfone 3 Max while the remaining will compose of the Zenfone 3 and Zenfone 3 Deluxe.

As for the price, the Zenfone 3 will target the mid-range smartphone market and will compete with models that have a price tag that's between $260 and $300. However, Shen confirmed that the Zenfone 3 will be priced more than $300 in the Chinese market to serve as a competition for the country's top brands, Huawei and Oppo. At the same time, it is expected that the Zenfone 3 Max and Deluxe will cost more, considering they have better specs than the base model.

Asus is also expected to reveal the specs and features of the new Zenfone 3 series at launch date.
