BlackBerry Priv release date, specs: Orders rolling Oct. 23; global release Nov. 16
Last August, rumors have surfaced claiming that BlackBerry will release their handset, the first Android-powered phone on their list the BlackBerry Priv, sometime next month, November. Now, a new report has popped up insisting that the pre-order will begin today, Oct. 23.
According to the screenshot that Mobile Syrup had posted on their report last Wednesday, it was suggested there that BlackBerry will start taking pre-order this Oct. 23 for their Android-powered phone, the BlackBerry Priv.
Luckily though, BlackBerry Chief Operating Officer Marty Beard had confirmed the date on the posting and fans can well in fact order the phone this Friday, Oct. 23, as revealed on his Twitter account.
Meanwhile, as for the previously mentioned November date, Tech Radar reports that the official Canadian BB site has accidentally posted a listing which indicates a November 16 launch date but sadly, it got taken down.
The source speculates that the mentioned date, November 16, could either be a worldwide release date or the official shipping date in its homeland.
In terms of the official specifications of the handset, Droid-Life has listed on their post that the Priv will sport in a 5.43-inch AMOLED screen with WQHD display resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 and it is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 4.
Moreover, BlackBerry Priv is said to be powered by the hexa-core CPU Qualcomm 64-bit Snapdragon 808 processor and will be backed up by a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory storage, which can be expanded using its MicroSD port for up to 128GB.
Other details include an 18MP main camera equipped with Auto-Focus as well as an Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) technology, a 2MP front-facing snapper, a non-removable 3,410mAh battery and a sliding QWERTY keypad.
Lastly, the BlackBerry Priv is going to run on Android's previous operating system, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
