'Bloodborne': PS4-exclusive release date, trailer, gameplay details [WATCH]
At Sony's Gamescom 2014 press briefing, the company revealed the gameplay trailer of Bloodborne, the latest role-playing game (RPG) to hit PS4 exclusively.
"Face your fears as you search for answers in the ancient city of Yharnam, now cursed with a strange endemic illness spreading through the streets like wildfire. Danger, death and madness lurk around every corner of this dark and horrific world, and you must discover its darkest secrets in order to survive," Sony's PlayStation website teased.
Apart from stunning visuals that highlighted the PS4 system, the Bloodborne gameplay highlighted terrifying scenes and bloodshed fights.
The 2-minute video ends with the line "and so the nightly hunt begins..."
Bloodborne features a terrifying new world, strategic action combat and a new generation of action RPG.
The setting of the game is a grotesque and horror-filled gothic city where creepy creatures lurk around the corner waiting for the next pray to arrive.
FromSoftware, the makers of hit series Dark Souls, made the two-handed Bloodborne packed with an arsenal of unique weapons that include guns and saw cleavers.
Polygon's Colin Campbell shared his experience wielding the weapons in the game.
"Both feel satisfying, but at every single appropriate opportunity, I pressed the L1 button in order to extend the axe from being merely a few feet long, to being as long as a tall man is high. In two-handed mode, that thing has a monstrous arc and, once again, the option to go slow and hard or fast and softer."
During the last Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3), Bloodborne bagged a number of awards from different gaming bodies and media organizations.
IGN's Colin Moriarty thinks it is one of the best games introduced in E3: "...with its fresh emphasis on a new type of combat – and with the addition of just a little speed – the entire name of the game has changed for me. Bloodborne is, in the limited roster of games I've seen at E3 so far, my favorite title of the show. And I can't wait to see more."
Bloodborne is set for a March 31, 2015, release date.
Players can pre-order the game now for $59.99.
