'Deus-Ex: Mankind Divided' news: Game Director Patrick Fortier says players will have to fight boss as well as talk
There seems to be some confusion with how players deal with boss fights in "Deus-Ex: Mankind Divided." Luckily, game director, Patrick Fortier has shed some light on this subject and clarified that the traditional boss fight will still be present in the upcoming game.
As reported by IGN, apparently, fans of the IP will not be able to defeat bosses just by talking to them. According to Fortier's explanation during his interview with Eurogamer last Gamescom 2015, the game director clarified that players will still have to fight the boss instead of just talk them into defeat.
"Like we said, there's two things. In the classical sense of the boss fight, it's not a debate, it's not an opportunity to have the same mechanic, the debate mechanic that we have using your CASIE [Computer Assisted Social Interaction Enhancer] augmentation to read the body language and the heartbeat and all of that - that's not happening in a classic boss fight," the game director told Eurogamer.
He then continued to explain, "Having said that, if you've equipped yourself in a particular way then maybe specific solutions are offered to you and that will result in some dialogue of some sort, but it's not debate gameplay."
Additionally, Fortier also said that players can still be as stealthy as they want, even during the boss battles in "Deus-Ex: Mankind Divided." With this, if done correctly, players can positively change the flow of the battle, as mentioned in the report of IGN.
He also told Eurogamer that the game will feature other different options when confronting bosses including a non-lethal way.
"Deus-Ex: Mankind Divided" is scheduled to be launched next year, 2016. The IP is expected to be available for the next-gen consoles, mainly, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and of course, on the Windows PC platform.
