DROID Turbo 2 & DROID Maxx 2 release date: anticipated handsets launching Oct. 27
After months of rumors about the upcoming DROID smartphones from Verizon the carrier has confirmed that on October 27th new devices from the lineup will be unveiled. This announcement will once again provide Verizon with some of the best phones created by Motorola.
As for the announcement about the upcoming DROID smartphones, it was picked up by The Verge, which stated that the press invite was sent out jointly by Motorola and Verizon for an event due to be held in New York on Oct. 27 at 11 am. It also pointed out that initially rumors had pointed towards the arrival of the DROID Turbo 2, but there was still some doubt about whether the DROID Maxx 2 would also be showcased on the same day.
However, the text in the ad clearly mentioned "DROIDs" which indicated that more than one new device would be unveiled. Importantly the tag line was "everything you expect from a phone will change" and an image of shattered glass was seen. This seemed to indicate that the rumors about the DROID Turbo 2 coming with a shatter proof display could turn out to be true. As for the hardware on the device, many expect that that it will have a Snapdragon 810 chipset, a 5.5 inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and a huge 3,760 mAh battery. There are also indications that Motorola will bring out a similar device in the international market named the Moto X Force.
In terms of the DROID Maxx 2 it is expected to land with a less dense display measuring 5.5 inches. The processor on this device is widely expected to be the Snapdragon 615, but the cameras will be similar to the DROID Turbo 2 with a 21 megapixel version at the rear and a 5 megapixel version in front. Finally as per rumors, the DROID Maxx 2 will be a remodeled Moto X Play.
