'Far Cry: Primal' news, update: Ubisoft explains focus on single-player over co-op play
Ubisoft, the publisher of the "Far Cry" franchise and the upcoming installment that is set in a pre-historic timeline, "Far Cry: Primal," has offered more details regarding the reason why they removed the co-op mode of the future game and focused more on the single-player aspect.
On a reply to a Steam post, Ubisoft Community Manager Jason Paradise has briefly explained that, "We are focusing entirely on creating the best possible 'Far Cry' experience for our fans. Bringing the Stone Age to life and providing players with a strong gameplay experience based off of the 'Far Cry' legacy meant we had to reinvent our core gameplay loop."
"This was definitely not a small undertaking," the Community Manager continued on his reply. "Our focus was on delivering this fantasy which required clear priorities for the team. Therefore, in the early stages of the project, we made the difficult choice of focusing our efforts on the single player experience."
Previous reports have also suggested that the upcoming title will not come with an editing program for the map, according to VG247. The exclusion of this tool, which gives the players the ability to create custom maps for multiplayer, makes total sense now that Ubisoft has confirmed the removal of co-op in the game.
"Far Cry: Primal" is now set to be released on March 1, 2016. The IP will run on the current-gen consoles, mainly on Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's PlayStation 4, as well as on the PC platform.
In terms of PC requirements, fans of the franchise will first need a 64-bit operating system for Windows 7, 8.1, or even the latest Windows 10 on their computer rig. Furthermore, the computer must run on a second gen i7 for its recommended specs or an i3 550 for the minimum. Head over to the game's official Steam listing for more details regarding the system requirements.
