'Five Night's at Freddy's 4' involved in April Fool's prank; potential 'FNaF 4' not confirmed at the moment
Rumors surrounding a potential "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" have turned out to be nothing more than a series of elaborate April Fool's pranks. One such article at Bloody Disgusting suggested that a new trilogy of "FNaF" was in the works, though the article was mostly filled with humorous remarks and was not intended to be taken seriously.
Another April's Fool's prank came courtesy of this article at Design & Trend where it suggested that a "FNaF 4" had been confirmed by creator Scott Cawthon and would reportedly take place at a space station in the year 4001. The article referenced a purported image teaser at Cawthon's official web site involving Freddy Fazbear in a spacesuit and donning his traditional top hat.
For the moment, Cawthon's web site Scott Games contains an image of a solitary top hat under a heavy spotlight. Included at the site is a message from the developer himself expressing his thanks to the fans while clarifying his stance on rumors regarding his creations.
"Hey everyone, thanks for your support! Please remember that I will never make annoucements through email or social media such as Twitter, so don't believe screenshots of announcements or emails. There are a LOT of fake accounts claiming to be me; only trust my website and my official Steam pages for FNaF. Please be supportive of one another and of the community," the message states.
For now, a "Five Night at Freddy's 4" has not been confirmed, but fans of the horror franchise remain excited at the possibility of a future installment. The previous game "FNaF 3" had received a mix of positive and negative reviews, with the game being praised for its darker and grittier tone, as compared to previous iterations of the series. Still, a few criticisms of the game pointed to a lack of new and original material leading to a more stale gaming experience.
