Galaxy Note 4 vs Note Edge comparison: Samsung Faceoff - which should you buy?

Amid internal woes, Samsung was able to launch two new high-end smartphones just in time for the holidays – Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. The big question now is "which unit should a consumer buy?"

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge proves to be more on the innovative side with the extra "edge" screen that boasts borderless aesthetics. The expanded space promises more fluid experience.

On the other hand, Galaxy Note 4 sticks with the tradition of having the regular screen with beefed up resolution.

Galaxy Note 4 has a slightly bigger screen compared to the Note Edge. The former has 5.7-inch display, while the latter has 5.6-inch.

Both run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 805. Both Note models are equipped with same camera technology, having 16MP rear-facing camera and 3.7MP front-facing camera.

Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge come with a Stylus Pen and has an internal memory of 32GB.

The handsets are obviously cut from the same cloth. To determine which smartphone is worth buying, consumers must dig deep into the "need" aspect. With so many similar specifications, design elements and sofware features, it is a challenge to determine which model is better.

Perhaps the only advantage that Galaxy Note 4 holds against Galaxy Note Edge is the "learning curve". Being a traditional smartphone, this appeals to hardcore Galaxy Note fans more because of familiarity. However, those who seek a "new" vibe should opt for the Galaxy Note Edge.

Samsung's bigger problem is not between Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge, but the scale of profit losses the mobile division has posted for the last four consecutive quarters. Aggravate this predicament with incredible iPhone 6 sales that widen the margin between Apple and Samsung, the two fiercest competitors for the mobile industry's lordship.

But despite setbacks, Samsung's mobile chief survived the annual reshuffle, as reported by Reuters.
