The Galaxy S7 Edge has been described as the best Android smartphone of the year by some publications; however, there are other devices, like the Huawei Mate 8, that are more than capable of putting up stiff competition. Here is how these two devices compare.

Design

Coming to design, the Mate 8 is a bigger device and it comes with a full metal body that gives it a premium look and feel. Its beveled edges serve to improve the look of the device and the back has a sandblasted finish. Its fingerprint scanner is placed on its back panel, and the device comes in gray, gold, silver, and mocha brown. As for the S7 Edge, it has a metal frame, and its back panel is made from Gorilla Glass 4. The fingerprint scanner is incorporated into the home button, and the device has an IP68 rating, which means it is waterproof and dustproof. As for colors, the S7 Edge comes in white, gold, silver, and black. The more impressive feature on the device is its dual-curved screen, and one of these edges can be customized to display apps, contacts, notifications, and a night clock.

On board the Mate 8 is a bigger LCD display measuring 6.0 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 368 pixels per inch. As for the S7 Edge, it comes with a Super AMOLED display measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 534 pixels per inch.

Hardware

There is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 on the international versions of the Galaxy S7 Edge, coupled with a quad-core CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU. As for the Mate 8, it has a HiSilicon Kirin 950 chipset, coupled with an octa-core CPU and a Mali-T880 MP4 GPU.

Memory

In terms of memory, both these devices have microSD slots, and the S7 Edge supports up to 200 GB and the Mate 8 supports up to 128 GB. Coming to RAM, the S7 Edge has 4 GB on board, while the Mate 8 either has 3 GB or 4GB.
