Samsung Galaxy TabPro S vs iPad Pro 9.7 specs comparison: Smaller iPad Pro is cheaper and has a premium metal body
With the release of the Apple iPad Pro 9.7, the device has been added to the ever-growing list of tablet/laptop hybrids in the market. Here is how it compares against the bigger TabPro S, which was released by Samsung earlier this year.
Design
When it comes to design, the iPad Pro has an edge when it comes with a full metal body and has all the good looks of a device from Apple. It has rounded corners and a Smart Connector that can be used to connect the device to the Smart Keyboard, which is sold separately and comes with a kickstand. Users can also opt to buy the Apple Pencil, which was released with the bigger 12.9-inch iPad Pro, and use it on the iPad Pro 9.7. Coming to colors, the iPad Pro is offered in gray, silver, gold, and rose gold. As for the TabPro S, it is a bigger device than its competitor but has a matte plastic back panel and metal on its frame. However, the tablet from Samsung only comes in two colors — white and black. CNET states that it has good value because Samsung has included a keyboard along with the device, thus sparing users from having to buy it separately if they want to use the tablet as a laptop.
Display
There is a 12-inch display on board the TabPro S and it is a Super AMOLED version with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,400 pixels. On the iPad Pro is an IPS LCD True Tone display that measures 9.7 inches and has a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels and density of 264 pixels per inch.
Hardware
On board the iPad Pro is an Apple A9X chipset, coupled with a dual-core CPU and a PowerVR Series 7 GPU. As for the TabPro S, it has an Intel Core M processor that is clocked at 2.26 GHz.
Memory
There is 4 GB RAM on the Galaxy TabPro S, while the iPad Pro has 2 GB on board. When it comes to microSD slots, however, only the TabPro S has one and the iPad Pro does not come with it so external storage cannot be added. In terms of onboard storage, the TabPro S has either 128 GB or 256 GB, while the iPad Pro is available with 32 GB, 128 GB, or 256 GB.
Camera
The rear camera on the iPad Pro is a 12-megapixel version, while the Galaxy TabPro S has a 5-megapixel version.
Price
Comparing price, the Samsung Galaxy TabPro S costs $899, while the iPad Pro 9.7 costs $599.
