'Garry's Mod 2' news and updates: sequel confirmed to be compatible with VR devices
It's been 10 years since the initial release of the popular sandbox creation game, "Garry's Mod," and now, the developer finally announced that a second game is now in development, and it comes with another surprise, the developer also revealed that "Garry's Mod 2" is going to be compatible with Virtual Reality—or VR.
In an interview with PCGamesN, the original creator of "Garry's Mod" and founder of Facepunch Studios, Garry Newman, talked about what's to come in the upcoming game sequel, "Garry's Mod 2." When asked about the possible increase in price of "Garry's Mod," Newman answered the question with a straight "no." The founder of Facepunch Studios then added, "I mean we're kind of working on a sequel, so it'd be stupid to raise the price."
Furthermore, Newman continued to explain that the development of the game is still in its earliest phase but they are thinking of adding more VR content to it. "It's early days. We're looking at having more VR stuff in it - that's the big point of it," Newman told PCGamesN.
Additionally, Newman told fans that it "won't be called Garry's Mod 2." However, the original creator did not drop any hints or clues about what the official title or subtitle of the game is going to be.
That would make sense though considering "Garry's Mod 2" is still in early development and there are still many aspects of the game that need more attention than the official title.
"Garry's Mod" is pretty unique, as well. It is like "Minecraft," but instead of building blocks, players can add any kind of details to the game like vehicles, spawn enemies and of course, create their very own version of a game mode. A perfect example of a game mode is the Hide-and-Seek match mode.
"Garry's Mod" is available on Steam and can be downloaded for a price of around $10, as said on GameSpot.
