Google Nexus 6: Release date rumors after new tweet

A recent Android tweet showcased a possible Google Nexus 6, while talking about shopping and simplifying choices, igniting fresh rumors around its specs and release date.

The Nexus 6 was somewhat forgotten when the tech industry turned their eyes toward the alleged Android Silver, said to be next in line.

The new tweet gives Nexus fans a ray of hope of the much awaited Google handset.

Whether it was accidental or intentional, Team Android inserted an image of a smartphone which is neither a Nexus 4 nor a Nexus 5 promoting easier shopping, and with the device displaying a photo sporting a revamped Nexus 5 design with curved corners.

The tweet was about Google Now and how the service makes shopping easier. With regard to the device used in the image, not much information has been given.

Since the Nexus 5 is already six months old, optimists believe the smartphone pictured must be the Google Nexus 6.

Google Nexus 6 specs rumors say the device will come with a 5-inch with 2K UHD screen panel, 20MP camera, 4GB RAM, 64- and 128-GB internal memory configurations.

The Nexus 5 follow-up may be powered by an octa-processor and will most definitely run the newest Android OS.

For some analysts, such as CNET, the tweeted photo is just a "generic mockup" of a Nexus phone, just like the device shown at the official Google I/O 2014 website.

The device that appears on the tweets and I/O sites may not necessarily suggest the release of a new Google device.

However, Google may still be working on a new flagship for this year's release, but so far the company did neither confirm nor deny the rumors.

Based on previous new Android version releases, Google has usually released a new flagship hardware alongside with it.

Google Nexus 6 may turn out to be revealed at the I/O 2014 event later this month, and would then be available in October before the holidays set in.
