Rockstar Games has continued to be quiet about updates to the much anticipated sequel, "Grand Theft Auto VI." While the company hasn't confirmed the existence of the game, rumors about what "GTA VI" will be about, its possible location and release date are making the rounds on the Internet.

According to N4BB, the next "GTA" installment will be significantly different compared to the previous games. Rockstar will reportedly head on to a different direction after former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies left the company.

After Benzies officially left Rockstar, Kotaku stated that he filed a lawsuit against his former company. N4BB speculates that this may have crippled the development of the sequel as Rockstar will reportedly not benefit from Benzie's concept without his permission.

At this point, the fate of the sequel remains uncertain. There are reports that say the development for the sequel will be further delayed due to the continued success of "Grand Theft Auto Online." The online version of the game seems to be earning more compared to the base title, "Grand Theft Auto V." Therefore, Rockstar is expected to focus more of its work on the online ranchise, putting plans for the sixth installment to the sidelines.

Meanwhile, there have also been conflicting rumors about "GTA VI's" location. Previously, it was reported that the sequel might be set in Japan, but now, media outlets are reporting about Liberty City, which is believed to be either the new setting or a DLC for the current installment.

Concept images showing a more detailed Liberty City from "GTA IV" done by Rockstar artist Adrian Page were picked up by members of GTA Forums. It's hard to pinpoint what the images are for but there are speculations that it could be for "GTA VI" or the next DLC for "GTA V." Then again, IGN reported that the images could also be nothing more than just a passion project.

All these rumors only build the hype up for "GTA 6" but Rockstar has not confirmed or denied any of them. Fans are only hoping that the developer will soon announce solid details about the game at next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event.
