HTC One M9 vs. Galaxy Note 3: Beautiful device from HTC challenges the Note 3
HTC has perfected the formula of creating beautiful and functional smartphones as evidenced by the HTC One M9 . However, the Galaxy Note 3 remains a great device, which is still tough to beat. Here is how the Note 3 phablet compares to the One M9 .
Design
Even though the One M9 is just a variant of this year's flagship phone from HTC, its metal body is almost a work of art as it has a lovely polish and comes with rounded edges. As for colors, it has three options, silver, gold and gray. It also has a fingerprint scanner, a feature missing on the One M9 flagship.
As for the Note 3, it does not have any metal on its body as it relies completely on plastic. It has a faux leather covering with a stitch on its back panel. However, its edge comes from the handy S Pen Stylus which can be used to draw and write on the screen. In terms of colors, the Note 3 has pink, red, black and white options and even has combinations of rose gold/black and rose gold/white.
Display
The display on the One M9 is of better quality when compared to that of its competitor. It comes with a super LCD3 screen measuring 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 565 pixels per inch. As for the Note 3, it has a bigger super AMOLED screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 386 pixels per inch.
Specs
In this category, the One M9 comes out ahead as it was just released recently. It comes equipped with better hardware in the form of a Mediatek MT6795T chipset, an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz and a PowerVR G6200 GPU. On the other hand, the Note 3 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, coupled with a Krait 400 GPU with four cores clocked at 2.3 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU.
Memory
Both devices are equal in terms of RAM as each has 3 GB. However, the memory slot on the Note 3 can only be used to add up to 64 GB of external storage while the version on the One M9 can be used to add up to 128 GB.
