While the iPhone 7 has continued to appear in a number of leaks and rumors, a lot of them have focused on the cameras that could be coming with the smartphone lineup. In the latest set of rumors about the device, there have been indications that the iPhone 7 could come with a camera with optical image stabilization (OIS).

Apple is expected to bring out vastly different cameras in its iPhone lineup this year, so it is no surprise that different sets of rumors about them have been making the rounds. However, as the iPhone 7 is going to be the device that is preferred by the majority, most of the attention has been focused on it. Also, Samsung has increased the quality of the cameras on its Galaxy S7 lineup and they currently sit at the top of the charts. This means the pressure is on for Apple to ensure that the camera on the iPhone 7 can outshine its rival. This is one reason why the company is planning to include OIS on the iPhone 7, according to analysts who work for Barrons.

More importantly, so far, only the bigger "Plus" models of iPhones have OIS. However, over the past few years, a number of flagships, including those from Sony, Samsung and others, have surpassed the 4.7-inch iPhones' camera and Apple is looking to retake the leadership position. Meanwhile, Barrons has indicated that by including OIS on the iPhone 7, the smartphone will become costlier to the manufacturer.

Even though the inclusion of OIS is going to make the image output of the iPhone 7 lineup steadier and makes the resultant photos as good as the output from the Plus series, it is likely that Apple is going give the bigger model an edge. This edge is expected to be the inclusion of dual cameras on the iPhone 7 Plus and there are indications that Sony and LG have been tasked with manufacturing the module, although Sony is falling behind schedule.
