Registered users on the commonly used torrent site on the Internet, KickassTorrents, will now feel more secured as the moderators of the website have now implemented a new kind of measure that doubles the security for the account, and it is called 2-Factor Authentication.

The 2-Factor Authentication, to put it simply, is like two layers of security for the user's account. First, it needs a username and a password for the registered account, then as a countermeasure, the second layer of security will kick in, which will ask the user to input a certain type of code into the required field. A perfect example of this is Google's Gmail authentication where it requires a passcode that will be sent into the user's phone.

"Using a username and password together with a piece of information that only the user knows makes it harder for potential intruders to gain access and steal that person's personal data or identity," KickassTorrents' admin, Mr. Gooner, said.

As for the second measure of KickassTorrents, though, it requires a certain application that has the capability to scan QR-codes. Once that happens, the app will then show the code that will be used for the required field.

This may sound inconvenient, most especially for users who are not really that tech savvy. Luckily, though, the QR-code authentication process is optional.

Meanwhile, for the ones who will go with the second security measure, TorrentFreak advises users to be extra careful with their codes and the app. If the user accidentally loses control of the app and its code, then he/she will be locked out of his/her KickassTorrents account. As a quick workaround, the source advises users to write down their code and store it in a safe place.

Aside from hacking prevention, this new feature will also help users to increase their accounts' privacy.
