'Kingdom Hearts III' release date: Third game installment expected at D23 2017

(Facebook / Kingdom Hearts)"Kingdom Hearts III" rumored to come out at next year's D23 event

Square Enix's next game franchise installment "Kingdom Hearts III" is now, allegedly, scheduled to come out at next year's D23 event, which is going to be held on July 14 to 16 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.

Unfortunately, many fans have expressed their disappointment with the rumored 2017 time frame over at forum sites. Some have went on to say that Square Enix should just release the game, while others offer valid reasons like the game's age in the market, which is currently sitting at 10 years now ever since "Kingdom Hearts II" was first released on the PlayStation 2.

Game developer Square Enix has yet to make any official announcement or statement regarding the launch date of "Kingdom Hearts III." At this point, though, it is highly advisable for the fans to just wait for the update, and hope that it comes out sooner rather than later. Needless to say, it's best to take the circulating rumors with a pinch of salt, and consider it as a mere speculation until proven otherwise.

So far, though, the closest thing "Kingdom Hearts" fans will get from Square Enix is the upcoming mobile game "Kingdom Hearts Unchained X," which will come out on Google's Android operating system and Apple's iOS this coming Apr. 7, as said on the company's official blog.

In terms of plot and where "Unchained X" will fit into the whole series of "Kingdom Hearts," game director Tetsuya Nomura explains that, "This is the story of the "beginning" of the KINGDOM HEARTS series; in other words, it falls into the earliest part of the narrative."

"It takes place in the world of fairy tales talked about throughout the series, during an era before the Keyblade War," he added. "There are many different keyblade wielders in the world, and you, the player, are one of them."
