Android 5.0 Lollipop update for LG G3, Samsung Galaxy Note 4
Google's Android Lollipop is expected to reach flagship smartphones LG G3 and Galaxy Note 4 soon.
LG confirmed that Android 5.0 Lollipop began rolling out earlier this November for LG G3. The upgrades commenced in Poland and key markets will follow in the very distant future.
"LG is absolutely committed to giving our customers the best mobile experiences available and bringing Android Lollipop to G3 owners as soon as possible is a top priority," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, in the official press release.
"The new features and improvements in Android 5.0 will bring a whole new user experience to the G3 and make it even better than it already is."
LG has also promised to release schedules of Android Lollipop updates for other LG smartphones.
Sam Mobile, a notorious Samsung tipster, has demonstrated how Android Lollipop works on Galaxy Note 4. An exclusive three-minute video provides users with walkthrough on Lollipop ROM for the latest Note model. The most noticeable change has something to do with the UI of the notification area.
Android Lollipop was expected to create a big impact in the smartphone industry. But, due to the buggy system as reported by several users just a few hours into its launch, the OS had only a lukewarm reception. The situation was aggravated by the fact that many Android users have jumped into the iOS turf following the release of iPhone 6.
To address a few small bugs, Google has introduced patch 5.0.1. While there are no details of what this update is for, users notice that automatic factory reset after several failed entry attempts has been addressed.
Android Lollipop or Android 5.0 first reached the Nexus lineup – Nexus 7, 9 and 10 (2013 models). This is understandable since it is a Google-owned brand.
Rumor mills have it that Android Wear will get their Lollipop version soon.
