(Mass Effect official website)'Mass Effect Andromeda' is set to be released early next year

The evolution of the "Mass Effect" franchise is happening already, and in a few days, fans will be able to see exactly how gameplay has changed when it comes to "Mass Effect Andromeda."

Developers recently announced that they will finally be pulling the curtain back on "Andromeda's" gameplay.

Specifically, the developers are set to show fans how gameplay has evolved at the upcoming event known as The Game Awards that will take place on Dec. 1.

While fans will have to wait until Dec. 1 to finally see the gameplay changes coming to the series, they can still learn about some of the yet-to-be introduced features, thanks to some details that have been shared previously.

Game Informer senior reviews editor Joe Juba – who wrote the publication's cover story about the game – revealed some details pertaining to "Andromeda" during a recent Reddit AMA session.

At one point during the AMA session, Juba was asked about the type of gameplay that the new title is set to feature. Juba replied, indicating that when it comes to gameplay and with regards to combat specifically, that the multiplayer component of "Mass Effect 3" shares similar elements with "Andromeda."

Juba added that the combat in the upcoming game is more free-flowing and that the single-player and multiplayer systems are more unified as opposed to feeling like they are distinct elements.

"Mass Effect" franchise creative director Mac Walters also shared a few more details about the upcoming game over on Twitter. According to Walters, "jump and verticality have improved the openness" of the game's levels.

Exactly how the more open levels will be utilized inside "Andromeda" has not been detailed just yet, so that's just another thing that fans will want to watch out for when more of the game is shown off on Dec. 1.

"Mass Effect Andromeda" is currently set to be released early next year.
