Various rumors and speculations have been said about the upcoming Microsoft Surface Book 2, but the said device is not coming out anytime this year.

According to reports, the release date of the Surface Book 2 will coincide with the Redstone 1 anniversary and the Redstone 2 release, which is happening in spring next year, as, allegedly, Microsoft will not release any device until Windows 10 update becomes available.

In the event that Surface Book 2 really becomes available in spring next year, Microsoft and Surface Book fans can expect some interesting upgrades on the current Surface Book for the upcoming device. Reportedly, the Surface Book 2 will pack Intel's Kaby Lake CPU, which means, in the event that this turns out to be true, then, those anticipating the Surface can expect it to be capable of supporting 4K resolution, 3D, USB 3.1, and many other impressive features.

Perhaps, one of the most notable changes that Surface Book 2 will come with as far as its look is concerned is the alleged change in the design of its hinge mechanism that separates the two parts of the device.

In its review of the current Surface Book, V3 opines that the fulcrum hinge of the current device gives it a strange appearance when it's closed. The online publication also notes that since there is a gap between the two parts of the laptop when the device is closed, it becomes prone to dirt, dust, and other elements that can cause harm to it in more ways than one.

It also raised the proneness of the device to structural damage because of the weight imbalance between its two sections.

Because of these problems, it is said that the Surface Book 2 will sport a more conventional laptop look to avert the current issues associated with its predecessor. However, it's not really certain if Microsoft will really do away with the current fulcrum hinge.
