Xbox Wire, the official Xbox news site, has reported that the Minecraft: Halo Edition mash-up pack will have an update this Friday to make way for new content from the upcoming "Halo 5: Guardians." New characters from the much-awaited first-person shooter will grace "Minecraft" even days before its actual release. Those who have not had any reason to get the mash-up pack before and are now enticed to do so may purchase it for $3.99.
The updated Minecraft: Halo Edition mash-up pack will have characters from both the Blue Team and the Fireteam Osiris. From the former, there are Spartan-117 The Master Chief, Spartan-104 Fredric, Spartan-087 Kelly, and Spartan-058 Linda. Form the latter will be Spartan Locke, Spartan Buck, Spartan Tanaka, and Spartan Vale.
When the mashup initially came out, gamers got treated to not only themed texture sets but also menus, user interface, and crafted items that are undeniably Halo. There were also 31 music tracks from the said franchise. Iconic Halo characters like Master Chief (of course), Cortana, and Sergeant Johnson made an appearance some of the 40 pixelized character skins. Pre-made worlds have also been included, complete with known vehicles from the franchise.
All those will be included in the mix for first-time buyers of the mashup. Just a reminder though, the mashup is exclusive to players of "Minecraft" in the Xbox One and Xbox 360 - understandably so, given "Halo" is an Xbox-exclusive AAA game.
In the meantime, 343 Industries is already gearing for the launch of the latest in the sci-fi video game franchise. Just recently, they launched the official community page, called "Spartan Companies."
"Halo 5: Guardians" hits retailer shelves this Oct. 27.
