Moto X 4th generation rumors point to a metal body
Motorola was busy this year adding to its lineup of smartphones. It released the Moto X Style as its flagship handset this year along with the Moto X Play. However, if rumors are to be believed, the company has already hatched plans for the fourth generation Moto X which is supposed to be released next year.
TechnoBuffalo states that the Moto X 2016 could have a full metal body. It also points toward the photo that accompanied the rumor. It says that the upcoming flagship could have an "industrial design" consisting of shiny metal.
Additionally, the camera in the leak is positioned behind a large glass housing which is circular, and this is also labeled as big difference compared to the Moto X Style that was released this year. More importantly, if the image is of the fourth generation device, then it is clear that Motorola has finally left the metal frame and soft grip on the back behind, which were also seen on the Moto X Style. This year's Moto X Style can also be customized on the Moto Maker website, where customers can choose different colored metal frames. As for the back panels, it can be switched out with various versions in ballistic nylon and leather and these are also available in different colors.
If Motorola is planning to use a metal body on the Moto X fourth generation it could mean that the users will not have the same customization options that were provided to them this year. The leaked image also did not indicate whether the upcoming device will have a fingerprint scanner, which was not present on this year's device.
It has been pointed out, however, that it is too early to consider the leaked image as the real deal. It might just be an elaborate fake.
