Moto Z vs LG G5 specs comparison: Similarities
With the release of the Moto Z, there is a new modular smartphone to take on the first such phone in market - the LG G5. Here is how these two devices with metal bodies and modules fare when they are pitted against each other in a comparison.
Design
When it comes to design, the Moto Z looks prettier as it has a body made from steel and aluminum and it comes with fine horizontal lines along its rear panel. As for its fingerprint scanner, it is positioned in the home button and there are sixteen holes in the rear for modules to be snapped on. There are three of these Mods on offer right now and they include the JBL Soundboost, the Incipio Offgrid and the InstaShare Projector.
In terms of colors, there are four on offer including combinations of black/rose gold, black/gold and black/gray along with a white version.
As for the LG G5, it too has modules but there are only two available and they are designed to go into the bottom of the device by opening up the Magic slot. These two modules include one that has a Hi-Fi audio player and another which has a battery pack. Coming to it build, this smartphone is also made from metal but it does not have antenna lines on its rear panel where there is a fingerprint scanner. Colors available for this particular device include gold, titan, silver and pink.
Display
The display size and quality see the Moto Z pull ahead as it has a slightly bigger version. The Moto Z comes with an AMOLED capacitive touchscreen measuring 5.5 inches and has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels with a pixel density of 535 pixels per inch. As for the LG G5, it has an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.3 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and has a pixel density of 554 pixels per inch.
Hardware
Onboard each of these devices is a similar Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset coupled with a quad-core CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU.
Memory
Both these devices have a memory slot and each of these can used to add up to 256 GB of external storage. When it comes to RAM, Moto Z has 4 GB and the LG G5 has the same amount.
Camera
Two cameras are positioned on the back of the LG G5. One of these is a 16-megapixel version and the other is an 8-megapixel version. It's front-facing camera is an 8-megapixel one.
As for the Moto Z it has a 13-megapixel version for its main camera, while its secondary one is a 5-megapixel version.
Price
Pricing for the Moto Z is reportedly $499. As for the LG G5, it costs $624 in its unlocked form.
