Nexus 10 2 to launch soon as specs and photos leak for alleged Google tablet
New specifications and photos of the purported Nexus 10 2 are coming out again as Google I/O 2014 nears.
Rumor mills have it that the Nexus line is reaching its twilight zone, which could only mean that the new tablet could possibly be the last in the Nexus range.
The leaked photo of a new Nexus tablet from Android Police suggests that HTC is building the device.
Codenamed Volantis, the tablet will carry the following specs: aluminum design with "NEXUS" emblazoned across the back portion, 2048 x 1440 8.9-inch display with 221 dpi, NVIDIA Logan 64-bit, 2GB memory, 8MP rear camera, 3MP front-facing camera and HTC's famous front-facing speakers.
When it comes to pricing, the 16GB variant is expected to sell for $399 while the 32GB and LTE version will cost $499 and $600 respectively.
The anticipation of what announcements will be made during the Google I/O 2014 event that kicks off on June 25th is mounting together with speculations of a new Nexus device gracing the occasion.
It can be recalled that a tweet of a Wall Street Journal reporter named Amir Efrati in 2013 mentioned that Sundar Pichai of Google confirmed that Samsung will make a second generation Nexus 10 tablet with 10-inch display.
Whether Nexus 10 2 will see the light in the distant future or will be completely shelved along with the entire Nexus line, is something that will test Google's ability to be a game changer in the hardware realm of the mobile industry since their dominance in the software side is undisputable thanks to Android.
The idea behind Google terminating Nexus in favor of Android Silver is so that they could reassert control over the Android ecosystem and better compete with Apple's iPhone and the growing business of Samsung smartphone.
