'Overwatch' DLC developers overhauls 3 characters
The game "Overwatch" from Blizzard Entertainment has been reported to undergo updates within its roster of characters especially with McCree, Widowmaker, and Mercy.
The mentioned characters' performance and damage points were said to be tweaked by the developers for a more fair gameplay.
The cowboy McCree was a favorite pick among players due to the fact that this character seems to perform better and his attack damage hits quite hard against other characters. Having said this, his reload time was now shortened from 0.75 seconds to 0.30 seconds. His attack damage was also dramatically lessened from 70 hit points down to 45 hit points. Furthermore, the developer explained that with the new updates on McCree, he will be a whole lot weaker against bigger opponents but will still be a formidable match against smaller characters.
Meanwhile, the Widowmaker's scoped shot damage was toned down a bit from 15 down to 12. However, the multiplier on her headshot took up a notch from 2x to 2.5x, including her Ultimate dubbed as the Infra-Sight, which will now take a longer time to recharge. The developer also commented that the said character can beat most of the characters if the player knows how to use Widowmaker in different situations during gameplay. They also noticed that the character's ultimate move recharges a little too often, which can definitely affect the gameplay.
The other character, Mercy, can no longer stack up on her Ultimate, which is called Resurrect, just by doing a damage booster on other players who'll be attacking blockades like a barrier or wall.
Furthermore, the mentioned updates will only take effect on the game's PC version. Hence, other gaming platforms will maintain the old performance and damage points of the said characters.
Game director Jeff Kaplan also commented in the Battle.net forum and said that they are currently developing new characters for future updates of the game. However, he added that it's not yet the right time for him to talk about it because he doesn't want fans to expect too much from it.
Kaplan further explained that if they're ready to show off their new roster of characters, Blizzard would like to have it patched into the game instead of having it as a downloadable content.
"Overwatch" came out on May 24.
