Saddleback Church, led by Pastor Rick Warren, is opening a new campus in Newport Mesa. The campus will be the church's ninth in Southern California.
It will be located across Triangle Square and will serve as a permanent home to the Huntington Beach campus congregation, which previously met at the Ocean View High School.
The campus will officially open on February 1, coinciding with Super Bowl Sunday .
Pastor Moses Camacho, a pastor for over 18 years, will lead the campus. He started his pastorship at the Ocean View High School back in the year 2011.
He was previously at Berean University for seminary work and Cal State Fullerton and Azusa Pacific University for studies.
Camacho noted that his passion for ministry is derived from his desire to connect people with a church family, to help develop quality relationships with God, and to build a strong community.
In an interview with the Orange County Register, the pastor spoke of the opportunities the new campus can provide.
"I am excited about being a church that will be able to provide phenomenal family programs to make them stronger. Saddleback does an amazing job with being the premier place for families. I often hear from others how they have been so encouraged by what Saddleback offers on a weekly basis," Camacho said.
He said the Saddleback Church provides a great weekend experience listing a myriad of gatherings for say, men, women, single mothers and students that happen.
Saddleback most recently opened a campus in Los Angeles on Easter Sunday last year.
In addition to its many campuses in the United States, the church also has campuses in the Philippines, Germany, Hong Kong, and Argentine. More campuses are being developed over the course of the next few years.
