Samsung Galaxy S8 new features: Name of upcoming flagship's virtual assistant may have been revealed
Samsung's Galaxy S8 has been in the headlines a lot recently, and the newest leaks may have just revealed exactly what another additional feature may be known as and what it may be able to do.
The newest leaks are now hinting at what kind of virtual assistant the next Samsung flagship may feature.
Back in October, rumblings coming out of China were already indicating that the S8 may feature an updated virtual assistant.
As was noted in a Sam Mobile report, the new virtual assistant will apparently be made by Viv Labs. It is also reportedly set to replace the S Voice that has been included in other Samsung devices, though this Viv-made assistant is expected to offer a wider array of functionalities.
Now, more details about that Viv assistant have been revealed, courtesy of a recently discovered trademark filing.
Android Headlines shared a screenshot of the trademark filing in question, and according to it, the virtual assistant that may be featured inside the Galaxy S8 will likely be known as Bixby.
Beyond the possible name of the virtual assistant, the trademark filing also reveals that Bixby will have features that are very similar to the ones offered by other, more popular AI companions.
Samsung devices aren't really known for having the most helpful AI assistants, so the possibility that an improved one could be introduced soon and in the next flagship device could get people to pay even more attention to this upcoming release.
People will also likely want to see exactly how Samsung may attempt to put their own twist on how the virtual assistant works.
Other rumors related to the S8 have hinted that it could also feature a newly designed front portion that no longer includes a home button.
More news about what the Galaxy S8 may feature should be made available soon enough, as the new Samsung flagship is expected to make its debut late February.
