Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S vs iPad Pro: The tablet/laptop hybrid from Apple gets another challenger

The tablet/laptop hybrid space is becoming increasingly crowded, but it has not stopped manufacturers from bringing out more new devices during CES 2016. Among the new models that made an appearance was the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S, but it will have to take on the iPad Pro in the market, and this is how these two devices compare.

Design

Describing the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S as a "mobile stallion," SlashGear states that it delivers on its promise of being able to handle almost any task thrown at it. However, when it comes to build, the device has matte plastic on its back and metal on its frame. Also, it does not have a fingerprint scanner and comes in only two colors: black and white.

As for the iPad Pro, it is a bigger device and so has a bigger display. Its build gives it an edge as it has a metal unibody and there is a fingerprint scanner incorporated into its home button. However, the iPad Pro does not come with a keyboard and users will have to buy the Smart Keyboard, which is priced at $169 and comes with a stand, to convert it into a laptop.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S, its keyboard is included in the price of the tablet and users can also opt to by a Bluetooth pen to use with it. On the iPad Pro, if users want a stylus, they can opt to buy the Apple Pencil, which retails for about $99.

Display

When it comes to display, the iPad Pro has an LCD version measuring 12.9 inches, which has a resolution of 2048 x 2732 pixels and a density of 264 pixels per inch. On the Galaxy Tab Pro S is a super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 12 inches and a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels per inch.

Specs

On the iPad Pro, there is an Apple A9X chipset coupled with a dual core CPU clocked at 2.26 GHz, while the Galaxy Tab Pro S has an Intel Core M processor with two cores clocked at 2.2GHz.

Memory

There is no memory slot on the iPad Pro and it has 4 GB RAM. As for the Galaxy Tab Pro S, it, too, does not have a memory slot and as for RAM, it has 4 GB onboard.

Software

The Galaxy Tab Pro S either runs on Windows 10 or Windows 10 Pro, while the iPad Pro runs on iOS.

Price

Without a keyboard and stylus, the 32 GB iPad Pro costs $799 while the price of the Galaxy Tab Pro S has not been revealed.
