Super Smash Bros Wii U roster: Fire Emblem and Falcon on new roster
Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS welcomed three new fighters in their current roster: Lucina and Robin from Fire Emblem Awakening and Captain Falcon.
Lucina and Robin are characters from 3DS game Fire Emblem: Awakening, which is set in an ancient world ruled by two dragons: Naga (Divine Dragon) and Grima (Fallen Dragon).
Robin is a skilled strategist and a traveller that remembers nothing prior to being discovered by the Shepherds.
On the other hand, Lucina is Chrom's daughter from the future that bears "Naga mark" on her left eye and is a courageous princess who believes that saving the world and bringing justice are her mission in life.
Captain Falcon who also goes by the name Douglas Jay Falcon, hails from the Nintendo F-Zero series.
A mysterious character, he is a legendary bounty hunter and a futuristic racer from Port Town.
Meanwhile, two non-characters were also added to the roster: Chrom and Rayman.
Also from the Fire Emblem: Awakening is the main man of the series, Chrom, surprisingly a non-playable character in Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS.
Super Smash Bros creator Masahiro Sakurai explains why.
"I played all the way through FE:A and really wanted to include a character from that rich cast in Smash Bros. Naturally, I considered adding Chrom to the roster, but the decision wasn't easy by any means.
At the end of the day, Chrom would just end up being another plain-old sword-wielder like Marth and Ike. Compared with other characters, he lacks any unique characteristics."
Rayman, known for being quirky and humorous, will be included in the non-playable roll of the game.
According to the official website, Super Smash Bros 3DS launches on October 4, 2014, while Wii U version is set for summer release.
However, a Gamestop manager dropped hints that Super Smash Bros Wii U might be giving away free Amiibo figures when it finally hit the shelves in November.
